MINUTES
ST. ANTHONY’S P.T.O. MEETING
May 19, 2004

The PTO meeting was held immediately after the Lap Top program presentation held in the social hall and began at approximately 7:00.

Debbie Martin led us in an opening prayer.

Minutes of the April 7, 2004 meeting were approved.

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

1. Mr. Carey thanked the PTO for all the things they do that makes our school such an excellent one.

2. The Spring Auction was amazing. It is a great way to celebrate and raise funds.

3. The stewardship/capital campaign is doing very well. $2.7 million has been raised as of May 17, 2004.

4. A new 3rd Grade teacher has been hired. There were 44 applicants for this position.

5. The board discussed the proposals for a lap top program with Mr. Olson.

COMMITTEE REPORT

Wendy Forestiere discussed some ideas for the New Family Welcoming Committee. She presented a plan for the ice cream social. The social is tentatively scheduled for August 18, 2004. We would all like to see the Kindergarten teachers present at this event.

TREASURER’S REPORT – Rollie Cochran

The total available in the PTO account as of this date is approx. $133,000 after accounting for the Spring Auction. After making the last installment on our commitment to the school and keeping at least $5,000 - $8,000 in reserve, there are approximately $100,000 excess funds to be distributed.

$8,800 in additional funding is needed for the Math and Reading programs.

Parent and teacher requests were considered and $30,000 in funds was disbursed for technology, field trips, science, and facility enhancements. The disbursement of additional funds will be discussed at a closed meeting to be held on Tuesday, June 1.
