Representation Reports

Church- No report was given in Msgr’s absence.

PTO-Debbie Martain was pleased with the results of a very successful carnival.  Food sales increased 40% over last year.  The Carnival made $54,000 bringing the PTO account to a total of $66,618.00.  There will be no Halloween Party this year but steps are being taken to insure some sort of activity next year.  Marina Whelan and LaVinda Garrett have volunteered to chair the Italian dinner.  Wendy Batti is working to insure a successful golf tournament.  PTO is still in need of a President elect for nest school year.

Principal’s-The Diocese of Fresno Catholic School Conference was excellent with one of the finest speakers ever to present.  The ITBS testing went well and an upcoming in-service will be held so that staff can learn to interpret the scores.  These scores will be used to help formulate curriculum in the various classrooms.  St A’s will benefit from Title II Part A funds to send faculty to a computer user conference and writing seminar.

Financial- Mr. Neumeier pointed out that the PTO has been very generous with donations made to the new classroom wing. Now that all the construction draws have been paid out the new wing will be completed without debt but the building fund coffers are now empty.

For additional information about the balance sheet for the month ending September 30,2003 please see handout.

Facilities- Zetta Hadden reported that the new wing is just about completed and that occupancy will take place before Thanksgiving vacation.

Old Business-None

New Business-Margie Olson, Lisa O’Neil and Wendy Batti detailed the history of the “parking lot battle”.  Discussion prompted by Margie Olson and Kelly Lilles reflected the difficulty that is inherent in effecting parental behavioral changes.  After much discussion Mr. Neumeier proposed a tentative solution.  He will solicit help from the Fresno Police Department to see if enforcement of traffic laws on Church property is possible, the administration will provide the opportunity for classroom presentations outlining parking lot safety and Lisa and Margie will present ideas for signs to aid in enforcement of school parking lot policy to Mr. Carey.  Lisa and Margie will also submit to Mr. Neumeier the names of frequent offenders so that he may tend to the issue.

Additional New Business- Lisa Bonadelle expressed concern that there is inadequate supervision during the noon hour.  Mr. Carey assured her that he has paid staff present as well as parent volunteers who are monitoring the student activities.  Mr. Carey will see to it that parent volunteers will be formally informed of the rules of playground etiquette.  To that end he will encourage parents to purchase football flags in the Tuesday packet.
