Call to Order The meeting was called to order with a prayer offered by Mr. Carey.
Note: the presenter presented The Finance and Facilities report out of the usual order to accommodate a scheduling conflict.
Financial Report- Mr. Neumeier reported that with a donation of $36,000 by the PTO club the new wing was completely paid off. For additional information please see handouts.
Facilities- Mr. Neumeier and Zetta Hadden reported that on the 11th of January a meeting was held for members of the parish who will be the principal volunteers in the Capital Campaign for the new activity center. We will need to raise approximately $3.5 million to accomplish the task.
Routine Business- The minutes were approved as presented.
The agenda was approved as presented. The date of the next meeting was changed
from February 19th to February 26, 2004.
Reports
Church Report-With the initiation of the Capital Campaign Msgr. is working to
change the mindset of the parish to that of Stewardship. He is asking that each
parishioner give each week, with a grateful heart, one hour of time or the equivalent
of one hour’s pay to St. Anthony’s. In doing so we will demonstrate
that we share in the responsibility of fostering the new and expanding ministries
and that we have made a commitment to share ourselves with the Parish.
PTO- Debbie Martin reported that there are a number of activities planned for
the upcoming Catholic Schools Week. The third annual “Read With Us”
event is scheduled for January 28, 2004 from 6:30-8:00. On April 22, 2004 the
Fresno Grizzles will have St Anthony’s School night. Kick off for the
event will begin on March 8, 2004, Lisa Garber will be selling the tickets for
the game. February 28th is the Italian Dinner from 5:00-8:00. Talent show contestants
will provide entertainment during dinner. Wendy Forrester of the Clovis PD will
be presenting a demonstration on car seat safety and seat belt use. Mrs. Polachek
will present an interpretation of the ITBS results on Feb. 11, 2004. Lastly,
Debbie expressed her appreciation for the opportunty to present on behalf of
PTO the bonuses given to staff and faculty at Christmas.
Principal’s Report- Mr. Carey reported that the feedback he received regarding
the Christmas program was positive. Families appreciated having the event return
to the school site. Fifth and eighth grade students will be taking the ACRE
religion test soon. Morgan Guyette a sixth grader was one of the winners in
the San Joaquin Valley Air Resources Board contest. Her drawing will be included
in their 2004 calendar. Mr. Carey covered a wide array of class offerings available
this semester in the elective program for 6th-8th graders. Mr. Carey also informed
the Board that Maria Marcella in the campus care program recently gave her two-week
notice of termination. He will begin looking for a replacement immediately.
The Diocese informed the School that a 1.3% COLA increase would be given to
all faculty members in the school year 2004-2005.
